The United Methodist Church works through a unique interconnected system that keeps us connected in mission and ministry. It is often simply called “the connection.” Connectionalism is uniquely demonstrated through our clergy appointment system, our mission and outreach, and through our collective giving. We are connected in mission and ministry to other United Methodists throughout the world. There is power in the connection!    

Global Ministries partners with agencies and individuals to alleviate human suffering; seek justice, freedom and peace; strengthen congregations and communities; and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

The General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) is one of four international general program boards of The United Methodist Church. GBCS is defined by its five areas of ministry: (1) Public Witness and Advocacy, (2) Administration, (3) Ministry of Resourcing Congregational Life, (4) United Nations Ministry, and (5) Communications.
